Rare Lanvin Fashion Illustrations (1925–1926)

Proposal: Acquisition of Rare Lanvin Fashion Illustrations (1925–1926)

Dear

I am reaching out to share a unique opportunity to acquire an exceptional collection of original fashion illustrations from Maison Lanvin, dating back to 1925–1926—an era that marked the height of Art Deco and French haute couture.

These works belonged to the late Miyoko Mizui, a Paris-based fashion journalist and former stylist in the Lanvin atelier (1966–1967), whom I met in Paris in the mid-1990s. During her time in the industry, Miyoko carefully collected these rare drawings—around 80 in total—many of which are rendered on Lanvin's signature "Lanvin bleu" paper, a hallmark of the house's heritage.

Following her passing, and that of her husband, Yasuo Mizui—a renowned sculptor whose monumental works can be found throughout France under the 1% for Art program—the collection is now under the care of Keiko Fujiwara, their former assistant. At 89, she lives alone in the village of Lacoste, tending to Mizui's sculpture garden and home. While she receives a small government pension, the upkeep of the property is increasingly difficult, and she is now seeking to sell the Lanvin illustrations.

These original 1920s designs are not only beautiful but historically significant.

We would like to propose the possibility of selling part of the collection a negotiated price.
